EV Charging Point | Floor Mounted - 7.3kW 32A EV
Built in earthing arrangement means no costly groundwork, holes in driveways or additional mess or costly inspection chambers.
Project EV electric vehicle charging uses cutting edge technology to provide all your electric vehicle charging point needs. Our wide range of AC charging points is the most advanced solution for electric vehicle owners, offering an environmentally friendly option at an affordable cost.
What is AC Charging?
AC is the abbreviation for alternating current, and the power that comes from the grid is always AC power.
The national grid delivers AC (Alternating Current) but Electric Vehicles must charge their batteries with DC (Direct Current).
An AC car charging point/EVSE supplies the car charger which then transfers the power to DC, allowing the battery to be charged. It’s important to look at the size of the onboard charging device and specification of your EV. The capacity of this will depend on how fast the on-board system can receive the AC current from the source.
If the onboard converter in your electric vehicle is small, the amount of power they are able to deliver to the battery is typically low. (6-22 kWh)
How does AC charging work?
Electric vehicles use the electric grid for power, and an AC EV charger with a socket to outlet plug connection is used to recharge it. Home chargers are wired into the electricity network used by your home, allowing you full monitoring and control of when and how often to charge.
The AC car charger also acts as a way to tell the vehicle what maximum current it can draw each time you charge. It also regulates the charging according to the current possibilities of the home, so the network isn’t overloaded.
Why choose AC charging?
AC car charging is the ideal option for a home charging system, as it is a cost-effective route for many EV owners. Not only is it convenient, but it is also one of the most reliable sources of charging for an electric car. AC EV charger speeds depend on the output power of the charge point as well as the capabilities of the converter to change the power to DC.
The AC car charging method is most suitable for your home as the car will be stationary for longer periods of time and you’ll be able to charge your electric car fully. This can be done overnight to avoid peak electricity tariffs and reliance on the grid. If you need an option with a shorter charge time or require rapid charging, you may need to purchase a DC charging device.
AC charging at home allows you to plan for optimum efficiency ahead of any journeys or trips. You’ll be able to plug in your EV to the charging station in a secure setting, such as on the drive outside your home.
